8 Resources for New and Expecting Parents in Columbus Ohio | Best Newborn Photographer in Columbus | Oliver’s Studio Session

As a mother to an almost two-year-old, I remember what it felt like trying to find the best, local resources for new parents. Even before my daughter was born I was looking all over the internet at OB doctors, baby boutiques and more! Now that I’m a mom and also a newborn photographer, I often talk with my clients during their session about my favorite businesses that cater to new parents! I thought it would be an awesome idea to have it all written down so new and expecting moms and dads can find the best resources within Central Ohio.

My husband works with Sarah (Mom) and has known her family for over 15 years. I photographed their engagement photos in the early stages of my career. It has been such a joy watching their family grow! I documented maternity portraits for them this spring when we got to chatting about newborn photos. Whether it be financial reasons or “Mom Brain”, some moms don’t even think to schedule newborn photos. To them, it’s too much work to find a photographer and get everyone ready for a photo shoot. I was so glad that they decided to schedule newborn photos! I helped them along the way from planning outfits, talking about their ideas and having a cozy studio for them to hang out in while I captured their tiny baby boy.

Big brother, Declan, did such a great job listening to me! He also helped himself to my basket of studio snacks! Sometimes parents are nervous whether their kiddos will listen during a session, especially when they are inside a studio space and not outdoors. I often tell parents that kiddos seem to listen better when I ask them to do something verses when Mom or Dad asks them. I also let them know how great they are doing during the entire process! Once family and sibling shots were complete, Declan got to rest. And once I began baby Oliver’s portraits, Dad took big brother from my studio so I could have a quiet space to work. Big kids are usually antsy after their photos are complete and they might be hungry, so I always ask a spouse to take any siblings for lunch or to go play.

Oliver loved, LOVED his milk. So we took a few breastfeeding breaks for him to get filled up and happy. Mom, Sarah, had a few requests that I happily obliged because she is MY client and I always do my best to make sure you walk away from your session 100% happy. Sarah received her gallery of beautiful images today, 6 days ahead of schedule, and couldn’t have been more happy! She loved every image and was so thankful I captured all the sweet moments, natural baby poses and her requested shots.

I loved getting the chance to document this family’s second baby boy. I can’t wait to watch him grow up! Here are my favorite images from his Grove City newborn photo session!
