Our Wedding Day: Part One, Part Two, Part Three & Part Four (If you haven't read them yet... where have you been?!)
We had a receiving line after the ceremony to get a chance to speak with all of our guests. I definitely recommend having one if you are worried you won't have time to speak to every table at the reception.
After the receiving line we wrapped up our portraits and then I headed back into my bridal suite to freshen up and adjust the bustle on the back of my dress for the reception. My bustle took about seven ladies and a good 30 minutes to adjust (and figure out). Once we were all freshened up we were pumped to relax and have some fun!
We had a lot of speeches. Five to be exact. My sister's being the longest. She got on the best man (Rick's brother) for having such a short speech.
We secretly took dance lessons (taught by our good friend, Zack) and surprised everyone by dancing the Waltz to John Legends "All of Me". That song is a whopping five minutes long!
Father daughter dance: "It Won't Be Like This for Long" by Darius Rucker
Mother son dance: "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts
(Step) Father daughter dance: "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban
Mother daughter dance: "In My Daughters Eyes"
Toward the end of the song, I handed my step-mother a lavender rose to show my appreciation for all she has done for me.
After the formal dances we tossed the bouquet and garter. Love seeing the folks that didn't want to reach for anything. Haha!
Erin (bridesmaid) caught the bouquet even though she didn't want it. Hah!
Part Six (final blog post!) will feature our beautiful cake, cake cutting, and all kinds of dancing!
