I'm so excited to introduce you to Never Grow Up Boutique! This modern, natural parenting store in Grove City, Ohio is fresh and inviting. I had the opportunity to photograph their store and chat one-on-one with one of the owners. The moment I walked in their shop I saw so many interesting items for parents to buy and use for their little ones. How would you describe your store to a new customer?
We describe the store with the tagline "Natural, Modern Parenting". Baby-wearing, cloth diapering, house, health and body. We have products for the "crunchy" families, but also have something for those interested in more eco-friendly or natural swap-outs in their current life! We believe it doesn't have to be a black or white choice in lifestyle products, rather an "all things in moderation" grey-area approach for those just crunchy-curious. For example: maybe that Re-Play table-wear set is just super cute, durable and all the lovely colors of the rainbow and that's why you chose it - but did you also know that the company behind those adorable dishes are a family owned and family focused business dedicated to providing sustainable and affordable products while keeping with responsible environmental and social business practices? Those adorable dishes are made in the USA from curbside collected HDPE plastic - yep, recycled Milk Jugs!
That's the idea behind all the products in our store - we did the behind the scenes thinking for you. So you can shop in store with a clear conscious, that the products we're presenting to you are safe, quality products! You just need to chose your favorites!
Why did you choose to open your store in Grove City?
We're asked this a lot - "Why didn't you open your store in Grandview, Clintonville, Short North, etc. where 'this type of stuff' is so popular?" Those also lovely towns, but we have few reasons! Most importantly because WE are from Grove City. My husband and I, our families, generations are all from here. We live here and our children will go to school here. This is our hometown. Furthermore, 'these type of people' you think are somewhere else ARE in Grove City and it's surrounding areas too! The other WE I'm part of, the natural parenting & baby-wearing community, we're here too! I don't like traveling far to get those things I need. I'm a homebody, I can't be alone there either! I'd rather shop small, support local, and be part of the community I live in and love.
Are you offering any specials for Black Friday?
You're hearing it here first! We have BIG plans for our customers this Black Friday 2016. So if you haven't visited us yet, you should definitely swing through Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Sunday! (We're closed Mondays, but Cyber Monday is a thing too, and we've got a website for shopping deals too!!)
Black Friday will include markdowns on a couple of our favorite baby-wearing brands. Buy One Get One deals, 15-20% off on cloth diapering brands.... the list goes ON and ON. I will share that all purchases made over that weekend will be entered to win a SUPER cute Holiday colors themed dishes set from our partners at Re-Play! And of course because I like snacks and I'll be here all weekend, I'll bring some yummy snacks to share with everyone while they shop! We're preparing the store for the holidays now, it's really my favorite time of the year!
What is your favorite (or popular) item in your boutique right now?
Yikes, that's hard. It's hard because we've only been open for a month and everything we started this store with are those products we've used or currently used in our own parenting journey. So really, you're shopping all my favorite brands - that's the whole store! It would be near impossible to say one product over another is my favorite. A new love? We partnered with one of my favorite baby-wearing brands, Tekhni, on an EXCLUSIVE woven wrap colorway. We launched the store with the exclusive Tekhni Omada Adventure colorway - it's gorgeous. Baby-wearing has given me so much sanity, kept our mini's and us close, and provided so much comfort. To have our OWN woven wrap for our journey with this business "adventure" is symbolic in so many ways. We kept one for ourselves of course, and it will always hold a special place in our family's heart. To be able to see this out in the baby-wearing community and have other family's love it as we do is perfection.
Why would you recommend that people "shop small", especially during the holiday season?
Why Shop Small? I think it was best put on a chalkboard I saw from another small business: "When you shop small you're not buying a CEO another boat or summer home. You're helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his t-ball jersey, and parents put food on the table or pay a mortgage." That's exactly it.
Why shop those big box stores where you're just a number or a drop in their mega bucket? Shopping small business puts back into your own local economy!
