Baby Clara's Newborn Photography Session | Columbus Ohio Newborn Photographer

I worked with Lindsay and Adam to photograph their maternity session in the summer. They booked both sessions at the same time, which makes things a lot easier knowing you don’t have to rush to find a newborn photographer after your baby is born. Also, working together during a maternity session gives us time to get to know one another and you are in my home while I am posing and photographing your new little one. You can see their wildflower sunset maternity session at the link below!

When planning their session with them, Lindsay talked about what she had in mind for their outfits and checked to see if their outfits would work well together. I truly believe that it’s my job as your photographer to help guide you in the right direction when it comes to wardrobe choices. I want you to be yourself but also wear something that will look classic, timeless and not distract or take away from your tiny baby in your family portraits.

Sweet Clara was a total sweetie pie for her session! She slept nearly the entire session except at the very end when we captured an awake photo for her parents. There are a handful of tricks I keep up my sleeve to hopefully ensure a successful newborn session. Usually (not always), the key to a happy baby is a warm room, full belly, clean diaper, soothing white noise sounds and gently posing that won’t abruptly wake your baby. During a newborn session I may seem like I’m simply capturing photos and posing your baby but in my mind I am multitasking. Ensuring the room isn’t too warm or too cold. Keeping an eye on the baby’s breathing and diaper (making sure it’s clean), and checking on their body temperature by feeling the back of their neck for any sweat. I also look at baby’s limbs to see they aren’t cold or turning purple which can mean they are cold or need to move their limb from a different position.

I’m often asked if I offer headbands for little girls as I typically keep things simple with a white backdrop and white onesie or white fabric draped over baby. I DO offer headbands for little girls. I offer a selection of white and color headbands that can adjust for different head sizes. Most can fit up to 12 month old baby girls! I always ask parents to make sure whether they want any headbands. Clara’s parents loved headbands so we swapped out a few during her session.

Lindsay and Adam chose to purchase a beautiful, linen album from me once they received their final online gallery of Clara’s newborn images. I can’t wait to show the wonderful details of their album once it arrives!
