Baby Charlie's Newborn Photo Session | Columbus Newborn Photographer
Mollie contacted me during her pregnancy to inquire about booking maternity and possibly newborn portraits. We scheduled her maternity session right away at the peak of fall colors last year. It was so much fun seeing them again - I’ve worked with Mollie’s family as well as her husband Josh’s family.
One of Mollie’s friends booked her own newborn session after seeing Mollie’s maternity session on social media. She listed Mollie as her referral, which meant Mollie was to receive a discount on her next session with me! I notified Mollie right away as they hadn’t booked their newborn portrait session yet. Once she knew she received her discount she booked immediately! I love being able to give back to loyal clients who, in return, bring me NEW clients!
Once they booked baby Charlie’s newborn session we began planning their session. We discussed outfit ideas for herself and her husband Josh. I encouraged them to even bring a few shirt options to my studio if they were feeling indecisive on their final selections. We also talked about what they envisioned for portraits of Charlie and all of them together as a family. I asked Mollie to feel free to send me any photos of mine she had seen on social media that she might want for her own session. This is SO helpful for me to plan your session. I plan every newborn session based on what YOU, as the client, want. It’s important for me to know you are happy with your final images.
Mollie also wanted to include hints of grey and asked if I had a grey fabric backdrop for baby Charlie, as she had seen it in use in previous photos online. I assured her that I’d be happy to include that fabric in his session. I keep neutral colors on hand upon request, however I do find that most clients love the all white look in my newborn images.
The day of their session they arrived and baby Charlie needed a feeding. Some parents feel nervous to spend part of their session time feeding their baby but I always reassure parents that feeding their baby is part of the entire session and not to worry or rush themselves. I also prefer that your baby is full and happy so they are comfortable while I gently pose them.
I loved working with this family again! Here are some of my favorite images from their newborn session in my Grove City studio.
