The S family contacted me needing a photographer to document their new baby boy who was due in March. They wanted a very natural, organic style and loved my studio. I helped schedule their session and we began planning ideas, outfits, poses and more! Part of hiring me to capture portraits of your loved ones includes communication to ensure you are totally confident and ready for your session.
The day of their son’s newborn session they brought along multiple outfit options for the two of them. I helped them choose which would look best of the blouses and tops they had with them. I always suggest neutral or subtle colors for newborn portraits with your baby. This way your portraits look timeless and your clothing doesn’t take attention away from your sweet baby.
Baby E needed to feed before we started which allowed us time to chat about any requests they had in mind. It also allowed us to get to know one another! Once baby E was finished eating, we began the parent and family portion of the session. Mom, Julie, had a few requests for mommy and baby photos. We took our time ensuring baby’s safety and perfecting each natural pose. They were very appreciative of the extra time I spent adjusting blouses, hair and more. Although my portraits look natural and sometimes “lifestyle”, I am a perfectionist at heart.
Baby E had a few feedings during our time together, which is absolutely fine. I never rush newborn sessions and prefer baby to be happy and well-fed during their time in my studio. His portraits went by in the blink of an eye because he was clean, dry, full, warm and safe. The key to a successful newborn session!
