After carrying your baby for the last nine months, the last thing on your mind is finding a presentable outfit for your baby's newborn session. I get it. All you want to do is show up in a Snuggie and call it a day. But I promise it's not as difficult as you may think!
I have five tips and some photo examples to show you just how easy it is to dress for photos in my studio.
ONE
Neutral is typically the way to go
I just made it a whole lot easier for you to select outfits for you and your whole family. Sticking with neutrals not only makes your job easier, but it allows your photographs to focus on your baby. It let's your family's love shine without being distracted with crazy patterns or colors.
TWO
You can wear elastic pants!
You can totally wear leggings/jeggings or sweatpants to your photo session. YES, you heard right! A big portion of my parent photos are from the waist up, which means your pants aren't nearly as important as your top. Pairing a simple blouse or tank top with grey or black leggings will photograph SO well and this look will even work for my white bedding setup.
THREE
Dressing your whole family
I love seeing different tones of neutral colors on families and parent photographs. It shows that each family member is unique while still allowing your portraits to look beautiful and natural. I love seeing the guys in plain t-shirts, button up or polo shirts. This classic look never goes out of style.
FOUR
Dressing for maternity or baby milestone photos
These tips above work well for other types of sessions in my Grove City, Ohio home studio. I love lighter colors with my white bedding setup, and will even pair it with a small pop of color or texture.
FIVE
Be comfortable yet confident
I think it goes without saying that we all want to feel confident when we have our photos taken. A huge part of that is wearing something that makes you feel good about yourself. The other two parts are hair/make-up & trusting me to make you look your best in camera!
I hope this helps you plan for your photo session with me in my studio, whether it be for your newborn, baby, maternity or your whole family. You're going to look timeless in these treasured photos that will last a lifetime.

Central Ohio Extended Family Photography Session
Columbus Ohio Family Photographer
Ankur contacted me from out of state to schedule an extended family session for his entire family. A lot of them were traveling to Columbus for one weekend only to celebrate their father’s 80th birthday. They wanted to document it with a large family photo session with a summer feel. I was thrilled to schedule a session with them and we began planning the location and outfits right away.
