Fresh 48 Session | Columbus, Ohio Fresh 48 Photographer | Columbus Newborn Photographer
Baby Marlie is brand new and already has two brothers who love her dearly.
I met this sweet family in their Mount Carmel East hospital room to document those first few days of Marlie's life. When I arrived little Marlie was awaiting her first bath and her brothers were finishing up their lunch. You see, Fresh 48 sessions aren't glamorous. They are completely the opposite of a fancy wedding day filled with your typical beautiful details. However, they are just as important as your wedding day - if not more. I take my time during hospital sessions to find the beauty and hide the extra clutter. You know, the bags, phone chargers, cups... all the things you keep around you during those long two days you stay in the hospital after giving birth where this small room becomes your home. I arrive early and pick up so you and your family don't have to. I find the most flattering light, the most comfortable spots to sit for Mama and let your family interact with one another while I capture timeless portraits for you to cherish forever.
All piled up and snug. Soaking up their first moments as a family of five.
This mama was telling me how they chose to wait to find out baby's gender. They were telling me all about how they felt, their emotions and reactions in the delivery room when they found out they were now the parents of a little girl. Not going to lie, it gave me some pretty amazing feels.
Finding pockets of light are my favorite. So are father and baby portraits.
I get emotional just looking at this photo below. It reminds me of when I had my baby. That first day I spent being a new mom. Just staring at her in her hospital bassinet. Knowing she had her whole life ahead of her, and my life totally changing in an instant.
I always bring my set of headbands, a few simple swaddles and a plain onesie - just in case. I love how my delicate, white headband looks on her.

Columbus Family Summer Photo Session
Columbus Ohio Family Photographer
The B family contacted me to schedule a summer field family photo session. They really wanted to capture their little family during the summer months. I was able to schedule them on the calendar and we began planning their session together!
Mom knew she loved the idea of a simple background like a field at sunset. I knew just the location - it’s the perfect spot for summer portraits. Whether you’re a family of three or a large, extended family with three generations, it’s the perfect spot!
Central Ohio Baby Milestone Studio Photo Session
Columbus Ohio Baby Photographer
Baby Shepherd’s mom messaged me through my business Instagram to inquire about a six month baby milestone photo session in my studio. She loved my use of a lot of white and simple setups. She asked if we could also capture a photo with her older son as well. I was happy to be able to schedule her so we could begin planning her session together!Danae, his mama, had some really simple and timeless requests. She really wanted to show off her baby’s rolls, eyes, features and even his little tush! I talked with her about all the setups and options I have for baby milestone sessions in my studio. She was over the moon to plan this session! She even drove from over an hour away to have these portraits taken in my Grove City studio.
Grove City Family Creek Photo Session
Columbus Ohio Family Photographer
The P family won a family session giveaway I held when I reached 1,000 likes on Facebook. I was so thrilled to tell them that they won - you see, this family has been through so much. Between cancer battles, adoptions and more - they were truly deserving of this family giveaway! Mom, Stephanie, loved the idea of a true, Summer session. Flowers, a creek, and cotton dresses. I knew just the location to take them in Grove City! Gantz Park has a beautiful garden full of flowers, ivy and herbs. They also have a very shallow creek that is easily accessed at the park itself. There is also a really fun, newly renovated playground for littles to enjoy after they do a great job during the photo session.
Arowyn's Central Ohio Newborn Photo Session
Columbus Ohio Newborn Photographer
Baby Arowyn’s mom emailed me to schedule her second daughter’s newborn session. She loved my style of using a lot of whites and natural poses. I was able to schedule her on the calendar right away and we got to planning her session.
She had a lot of really lovely ideas and had a really timeless style. One of her ideas involved bringing a purple quilt made by a family member. She wanted to incorporate it somehow, so I told her to bring it along and I would design a setup using the blanket. It’s important to me that you LOVE your images, and if that means you bring along a sentimental heirloom-so be it! I don’t typically use purple but I truly believe in making my clients happy and I know this mama’s heart was so excited to see this quilt in her daughter’s portraits. You’ll see the image at the end of this blog post! Take a look!
Ethan's Columbus Newborn Photo Session
Columbus Newborn Photographer
Ethan’s mom contacted me to schedule her first child’s newborn session. She loved the idea of choosing someone who offered a natural approach to newborn photography. We scheduled her session with a tentative date. I always let clients know their date is tentative in case their due date changes. Which we all know happens quite often. If your due date changes by more than 4-5 days I usually alter the session date to make sure your baby is between 7-14 days old by their session.
Columbus Family Photography Summer Session
The S Family at Scioto Grove Metro Park in Grove City, Ohio
Columbus Ohio Newborn Photography Studio | Baby Oliver’s Studio Session
Stephanie contacted me through my Facebook business page hoping to schedule a full newborn session in my Grove City newborn studio. Her baby boy was already born and hoped to snag a last minute opening. Although I do suggest you schedule your session before your baby is born, I try my hardest to schedule in last minute sessions. It makes things so much easier for you to schedule and plan your session before your baby is born so you can mark it off as done on your mental check list. You also don’t need to sit and research to find the best photographer after your baby is born and living on 3 hours of sleep.
Once Stephanie was all booked we started planning her session! She had a boy named Oliver with the most gorgeous head of hair. We discussed any of her requests to which she shared she wanted some nice family photos, a great sibling shot and timeless newborn photos of her baby boy. She was nervous that her oldest wouldn’t cooperate for photos. I let her know I would do my very best to make sure we captured some photos of them together. My sibling photos are pretty natural and very safe. I always keep a parent just off to the side, out of camera, to give a helping hand to the kiddos.

8 Resources for New and Expecting Parents in Columbus Ohio | Best Newborn Photographer in Columbus | Oliver’s Studio Session
As a mother to an almost two-year-old, I remember what it felt like trying to find the best, local resources for new parents. Even before my daughter was born I was looking all over the internet at OB doctors, baby boutiques and more! Now that I’m a mom and also a newborn photographer, I often talk with my clients during their session about my favorite businesses that cater to new parents! I thought it would be an awesome idea to have it all written down so new and expecting moms and dads can find the best resources within Central Ohio.
Central Ohio Newborn Photographer | Best Newborn Photographer in Columbus | Oliver’s Studio Session
My husband works with Sarah (Mom) and has known her family for over 15 years. I photographed their engagement photos in the early stages of my career. It has been such a joy watching their family grow! I documented maternity portraits for them this spring when we got to chatting about newborn photos. Whether it be financial reasons or “Mom Brain”, some moms don’t even think to schedule newborn photos. To them, it’s too much work to find a photographer and get everyone ready for a photo shoot. I was so glad that they decided to schedule newborn photos! I helped them along the way from planning outfits, talking about their ideas and having a cozy studio for them to hang out in while I captured their tiny baby boy.
Big brother, Declan, did such a great job listening to me! He also helped himself to my basket of studio snacks! Sometimes parents are nervous whether their kiddos will listen during a session, especially when they are inside a studio space and not outdoors. I often tell parents that kiddos seem to listen better when I ask them to do something verses when Mom or Dad asks them. I also let them know how great they are doing during the entire process! Once family and sibling shots were complete, Declan got to rest. And once I began baby Oliver’s portraits, Dad took big brother from my studio so I could have a quiet space to work. Big kids are usually antsy after their photos are complete and they might be hungry, so I always ask a spouse to take any siblings for lunch or to go play.
Oliver loved, LOVED his milk. So we took a few breastfeeding breaks for him to get filled up and happy. Mom, Sarah, had a few requests that I happily obliged because she is MY client and I always do my best to make sure you walk away from your session 100% happy. Sarah received her gallery of beautiful images today, 6 days ahead of schedule, and couldn’t have been more happy! She loved every image and was so thankful I captured all the sweet moments, natural baby poses and her requested shots.
I loved getting the chance to document this family’s second baby boy. I can’t wait to watch him grow up! Here are my favorite images from his Grove City newborn photo session!
